Dec. 2021: Corman Refused To Say Whether He Supported Texas-Style Abortion Ban, Supported An “Update” To Definition Of Viability In Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act To Reflect Medical Technology That Had “Allowed For Babies To Be Born In Earlier Weeks.” According to WPSU, “Anne Danahy ‘And another issue that’s very much at the forefront right now is abortion. And what states are doing with that. If you were elected, would you support, sign legislation restricting or banning abortion?’ Jake Corman ‘Look, I never get into hypotheticals before we have the ability to do so. I support the Abortion Control Act. The Abortion Control Act is one of the strongest laws in Pennsylvania. I’m a pro-life legislator. The Abortion Control Act is based on viability outside the womb. I have voted in the past to update that from its original intent, because the medical technology has allowed for babies to be born at earlier weeks. So let’s see what the courts allow us to do. But for now, I support the Abortion Control Act, and I support updating it.’” [WPSU, 12/3/21]

2020: Corman Urged Governor Wolf To Sign Telemedicine Bill That Included Provision Banning Abortion-Inducing Medication. According to PennLive, “The Pennsylvania Senate approved a bill Tuesday that promotes telemedicine and simultaneously revived the heated debate over abortion rights. Senators voted 29-21 to pass the bill allowing the remote delivery of health care services online. But the measure included a controversial provision banning abortion-inducing medication, prompting all the Democrats to oppose the bill. The legislation, which previously passed the state House, now goes to Gov. Tom Wolf. A spokeswoman for the governor indicated Tuesday evening he would veto it. Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, R-Centre County, said he was hopeful the governor would look past his support for abortion rights to allow this bill to become law with or without his signature.” [PennLive, 4/21/20]
