Section Overview:

• Parnell was vehemently anti-choice, stating that he is “pro-life, and [he] will vote that way.”

• Parnell supported the Born Alive Act, which imposed fines and a potential jail sentence on doctors who did not provide care to infants who “survive an abortion.” Parnell repeatedly stated that he was an opponent of “post-birth” abortions, a policy that did not exist. 

• Parnell supported The Mexico City Policy, which required foreign NGOs to certify they would not perform or promote abortion in order to receive funding from the U.S. Government. 

• During his 2022 Senate campaign, Parnell publicized claimed that the University of Pittsburgh was harvesting organs from aborted fetuses while their hearts were beating, and called for a probe into the university.  

• Parnell appeared to support cutting funding from Planned Parenthood and criticized Conor Lamb, his Democratic opponent in the 2020 Election for having a 100 percent rating from Planned Parenthood.
